We are pleased to introduce a new series of facilitated, half-day professional development workshops for members, focused on building critical skills in strategic workforce planning and change management. Taking place on Friday 13th November at the Hilton Sydney following the 2026 AAGE Conference, professionals and team leaders from across the early careers spectrum are invited to take advantage of these highly valuable sessions which are designed to inspire fresh thinking, build practical capability and strengthen leadership impact.

These half-day learning events must be booked separately to the two-day 2026 AAGE Conference (Wednesday 11th – Thursday 12th November).

Members can select from one of two options which will run concurrently from 9.00am – 1.00pm with lunch provided from 1.00pm – 2.00pm.

Option One

Strategic Workforce Planning for Early Careers Program Leaders – open to employer members only

This practical four-hour workshop is designed for early careers program leaders and people managers who want to strengthen their understanding of strategic workforce planning (SWP) and how it applies to early careers pathways.

Participants will be introduced to key concepts and tools, including workforce planning maturity, environmental scanning and scenario planning as they apply to early careers programs that aim to meet longer-term workforce demand within the constraints of the labour market they operate in.

The session focuses on applying selected tools to participants’ own context, identifying opportunities to better align early careers programs with organisational priorities, and framing clearer, more compelling messages about the value of early careers investment in achieving strategic priorities.

The session combines content from the Workforce Planning Institute and will be facilitated by Kath Hume with interactive activities and discussion, followed by a networking lunch with attendees.

Topics covered will include:

  • What strategic workforce planning is – and what it isn’t
  • Connecting strategy to capability requirements, roles and workforce implications
  • The business case for SWP
  • Workforce planning maturity
  • Environmental scanning: scanning signals, trends and translating them into workforce and graduate-program implications
  • Capability thinking (capability vs. skills) and how to build enterprise capability through graduate program design
  • Strategically critical roles and building graduate pathways to address pipeline gaps
  • Scenario planning to stress-test and adapt graduate program strategy
  • Crafting a simple, executive-ready business case for graduate programs.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Have a clearer understanding of how SWP connects to early careers program design
  • Be able to identify where early careers pathways may support workforce priorities
  • Gain practical ideas and tools they can apply in their organisation
  • Feel more confident contributing to workforce planning conversations.

If you’re looking to strengthen how your early careers programs align with future workforce needs, this session will build your confidence and provide practical starting points to take back into your organisation.

Facilitated by Kath Hume, Learning and Workforce Planning Consultant, Workforce Planning Institute

Option Two

Leading Change Workshop – open to all members

Leaders must guide their teams through various changes at organisational, team and individual levels. Since each person reacts differently, effective leaders support team members by understanding their unique responses and helping them transition smoothly. Change Leadership is about facilitating this shift from an old norm to a new one through clear communication and active support. This workshop focuses on equipping leaders with the skills to recognise how their people are impacted by change and to communicate effectively during these transitions.

The Leading Change Workshop is a four-hour experience and has four goals for participants:

  1. Experience a change event to give context to theory
  2. Use the Bridges Transition Model to help leaders to identify how their people will react to a change event
  3. Share the three steps for a leader to be able to lead their team through a change event
  4. Give confidence to have a change conversation via practice scenarios for each of the three stages of the Bridges Transition Model.

While the learning theory is strong, the change experience is the real magic of this workshop.

The Real Leadership Company partners with Lynton Allan from Sketch and Tell to create a unique change experience. Lynton guides the group through an art immersion, a truly unique corporate learning experience. There are multiple change events within Lynton’s piece and while we can’t reveal everything Lynton does in the workshop, we can say that participants are always left mouth agape when the final change event occurs!

Facilitated by Saul Wajntraub, Leadership Coach, The Real Leadership Company and Lynton Allan, Sketch and Tell
